Lewes Celebrant
There are two strands to what I do. I work with people interested in their own end of life/funeral planning, and I work with families to perform the duties of a celebrant (similar to a minister, but usually non-religious) for loved ones who have died.
For the latter, dealing with the death of someone close to you can be bewildering and exhausting. But funerals or Celebrations of Life, whilst often sad, don’t have to be gloomy! I’m interested in helping create an event or service that makes you proud of how you’ve honoured the person you’ve lost – whether recently or a long time ago.
I am an independent celebrant and a qualified counsellor. Take a look at my ‘services’ page for more information about what you might expect if you choose me. Please call if you would like a chat about how I can help.
Being inclusive matters a great deal and I’m proud to be an ally of the LGBTIQA+ community.
I am based in Lewes, but work in Brighton, Hove, Seaford, Newhaven, Peacehaven, Crowborough, Lancing, Worthing, Shoreham, Eastbourne, Hailsham, Steyning, Uckfield, Bexhill-on-Sea, Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Horsham etc. Basically across East Sussex and surrounding areas.

What is a celebrant?
I’m trained as an independent funeral celebrant. I work with your chosen funeral director to support you to create the service you want, then I lead it, so you can celebrate the life of the person you have lost. Or we might create a memorial, however you would like to do that. I meet you to discuss this as well as writing a eulogy that truly reflects your loved one. I am there to support you and your family through the process.

Testimonials
I attended a funeral where the eulogy was given by Emma. Her words were beautiful, and a truly fitting tribute to the person we had lost. She hit all the right notes, acknowledging the sadness of the occasion whilst recalling joyful moments in that person’s life. It was a wonderful and memorable eulogy.
Anne Heroys, Eastbourne
I want to thank you so much for the way you held the space. It was really beautiful, both in the Oak Hall and at the graveside. I found your approach so warm and kind. I felt you balanced the awfulness of what’s happened with a wonderful celebration – I had so many lovely reminders when you spoke, and I felt this was shared by others in the hall.
Bela Emerson, Sussex
Emma wrote a wonderful eulogy for my father. She came to my house and took time for an in-depth conversation about him and our relationship. She managed this with great tact, sensitivity and professionalism. Her draft successfully captured his essence, celebrating his life with all its shades. It was a positive, joyful, life-enhancing experience.
Doris Moorhead, Lewes
You provided the most sensitive and empathetic work imaginable for the saddest of occasions. You worked so hard to handle family, grief and the loss to produce a truly beautiful and fitting finale. Thanks for all your preparation to make the service so moving and appropriate. In the hardest of times, you were a rock of support. And your graceful conduct of the service has left an enduring memory. Such deep thanks.
